Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces firm bananas peeled
  • 2 pieces lemons juiced
  • to taste Optional spices Cinnamon or nutmeg
  • 1 pinch Salt

Instructions

Instructions

  • Start by peeling the 4 firm bananas. Make sure they are not too soft to ensure a crunchy texture.
  • Using a sharp knife, slice the bananas into thin, even rounds. Aim for about 1/8 inch thick for the best outcome.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the juice from the 2 lemons with a little water. Add the banana slices to this mixture and toss to coat. This will help to prevent browning and enhance the flavor.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the banana slices in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap.
  • Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and place the baking sheet inside. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, flipping the slices halfway through. You’re looking for a golden color and a crisp texture.
  • Once baked, remove the chips from the oven and let them cool completely. They will continue to crisp up as they cool. Once cooled, store them in an airtight container.

Equipment

  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Oven

Notes

  • Make sure your bananas are firm; overly ripe bananas will become mushy.
  • Feel free to experiment with different spices like cinnamon, cayenne, or even cocoa powder for a sweet twist.
  • If you have a dehydrator, you can use it for an even crispier texture.
  • Keep an eye on the chips toward the end of the baking time to prevent burning.
