Ingredients

For the Biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick unsalted cold butter cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 2 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup fresh cilantro chopped

Instructions

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure even baking.
  • Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • Step 3: Add the cold, cubed butter to the flour mixture. Cut it into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Step 4: Gently fold in the grated cheddar cheese, chopped garlic, and cilantro until evenly distributed.
  • Step 5: Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk. Stir until just combined; the dough should be slightly sticky.
  • Step 6: Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat it into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Cut out rounds and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Step 7: Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown on top.
  • Step 8: Allow to cool for a few minutes on a wire rack before serving warm.
