Start by heating your skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef chuck, breaking it apart with your wooden spoon. Cook until it’s browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
Once the beef is cooked, add the chopped celery, chopped onion, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are softened and fragrant.
Stir in the brown sugar, white distilled vinegar, ketchup, canned chopped tomatoes or tomato sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix everything together until well combined.
Allow the mixture to simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
While the Sloppy Joe mixture simmers, toast the hamburger buns if desired. This adds a nice crunch.
Once everything is heated through and well combined, spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture generously onto the bottom half of each bun, top with the other half, and serve immediately.
