Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water (about 110 degrees Fahrenheit)
  • 1 1/4 tablespoon instant dry yeast
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon table salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Begin by pouring 1 cup of warm water into a mixing bowl. Sprinkle the instant dry yeast and sugar over the water. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add in the table salt and olive oil. Stir to combine. Gradually add the all-purpose flour, one cup at a time, stirring until a soft dough begins to form.
  • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
  • Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl. Cover it with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. After the dough has risen, punch it down to release any air bubbles. Divide the dough into 12-16 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long stick, about 6-8 inches in length, and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, dried parsley, and the additional salt. Brush this mixture generously over each breadstick. Then, sprinkle grated parmesan cheese on top.
  • Bake the breadsticks in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  • Once baked, remove the breadsticks from the oven. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
