Ingredients

  • 8 ounces unsalted butter (2 sticks), softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (1 bar), softened
  • 5 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons zest of 1 lemon (about)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

Instructions

  • Ensure that both the unsalted butter and cream cheese are at room temperature.
  • In your mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and cream cheese. Beat on medium speed until creamy and well combined, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar to the mixture, starting on low speed to avoid a sugary cloud. Increase to medium and beat until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add the zest of one lemon and the tablespoon of fresh lemon juice to the frosting. Mix on medium speed until fully incorporated.
  • Taste the frosting and adjust the lemon flavor by adding more zest or juice if desired.
