Ingredients

Ingredients:

  • 10 slices Whole Wheat Bread preferably a day or two old
  • 3 large Egg Whites
  • 1.5 cups Skim Milk
  • 0.25 cups White Sugar
  • 0.25 cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 0.5 tsp Cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp Nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp Clove
  • Vegetable Oil Spray for greasing the baking dish

Instructions

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This will ensure that your pudding bakes evenly.
  • Step 2: Spray your baking dish with vegetable oil spray to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  • Step 3: Cut the whole wheat bread into 1-inch cubes. If the bread is a little stale, that’s even better as it will absorb the custard more effectively.
  • Step 4: In a mixing bowl, whisk together 3 egg whites, 1 ½ cups skim milk, ¼ cup white sugar, ¼ cup brown sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Step 5: Stir in the ½ tsp cinnamon, ¼ tsp nutmeg, and ¼ tsp clove into the custard mixture. This will create a fragrant base for your pudding.
  • Step 6: Add the cubed bread to the mixing bowl and gently fold it into the custard mixture. Make sure all the bread pieces are well-coated.
  • Step 7: Pour the bread and custard mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  • Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the pudding is set and slightly golden on top.
  • Step 9: Let the pudding cool for a few minutes before serving. You can enjoy it warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use stale bread for better custard absorption.
