Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar adds sweetness and helps the bars hold together
  • 1 cup light corn syrup binds everything together and gives bars chewy texture
  • 1 cup peanut butter creamy or crunchy, adds rich flavor
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla enhances flavor
  • 1 cup peanuts chopped, adds extra crunch
  • 6 cups Cheerios provides light and crispy texture

Instructions

  • Prepare your 9x13 inch baking dish by spraying it with non-stick spray or lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the white sugar and light corn syrup. Stir continuously until boiling, then cook for an additional 1-2 minutes without stirring.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter and vanilla until smooth and well combined.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add the Cheerios and chopped peanuts. Pour the warm peanut butter mixture over and gently fold until fully coated.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Press it down firmly into an even layer.
  • Let the bars cool at room temperature for 1-2 hours or refrigerate for quicker results. Once firm, lift out and cut into squares.

Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • 9x13-inch Baking Dish

Notes

  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
  • Refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze individually for up to three months.
  • Use honey instead of corn syrup for a natural sweetener.
  • Substitute peanut butter with almond butter for a different flavor.
  • Press the mixture firmly into the dish to avoid crumbly bars.
