Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter at room temperature (2 sticks)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure orange extract (or orange oil)
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (measure, then sift)
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9x13 inch baking pan to ensure easy removal of the brownies later.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the room-temperature butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the four large eggs to the creamed mixture one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the pure orange extract and grated orange zest.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • While the brownies are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, freshly squeezed orange juice, and finely grated orange zest in a small bowl.
  • Once the brownies are done baking, let them cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Remove them from the pan and place them on a cooling rack. Drizzle the orange glaze over the warm brownies.
  • Once the brownies have cooled completely, slice them into squares and serve. Enjoy!
