Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 3-4 cups bread flour

For the Toppings:

  • 1 cup pizza sauce homemade or good quality store-bought
  • 2 cups pepperoni your favorite brand
  • 4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese a blend for perfect melt
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese adds depth of flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

Build Pepperoni Pizza Step by Step

  • Step 1: Prepare the Dough
In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy. This means your yeast is active and ready to go!
  • Step 2: Mix Ingredients
Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add the olive oil, salt, and white vinegar. Slowly mix in 3 cups of bread flour, one cup at a time, until the dough starts to come together. If the dough is too sticky, gradually add more flour until it forms a smooth ball.
  • Step 3: Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s elastic and smooth. Form it into a ball and place it in a greased bowl, covering it with a damp cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
  • Step 4: Preheat the Oven
While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you’re using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
  • Step 5: Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into your desired shape and thickness. If you prefer a thicker crust, leave it thicker; for a thin crust, roll it out more.
  • Step 6: Add the Sauce and Toppings
Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet or a pizza peel (if using a pizza stone). Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the base. Sprinkle a generous layer of mozzarella cheese, followed by the pepperoni slices, and finish with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning.
  • Step 7: Bake the Pizza
Slide the pizza into the preheated oven on the pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  • Step 8: Slice and Serve
Once baked, remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a couple of minutes. Slice it into wedges using a pizza cutter and serve hot. Enjoy your homemade Pepperoni Pizza with a side of extra pizza sauce for dipping!

Notes

  • Make sure your water is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm area for best results.
  • Don't overload your pizza with toppings to avoid a soggy crust.
  • Allow the pizza to cool slightly before slicing for easier cutting.
