Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 pounds ground chuck
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 16 slices dill pickles
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onions
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground chuck with salt and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Divide the mixture into four portions and shape them into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each.
  • Heat your skillet or grill over medium-high heat. Add the tablespoon of butter and let it melt, coating the bottom.
  • Place the patties onto the skillet or grill. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip. Place two slices of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to help the cheese melt. Cook for another 4-5 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
  • Toast the brioche buns cut side down in the same skillet until golden brown.
  • Assemble the burgers starting with the bottom bun, adding the cheesy patty, dill pickle slices, chopped red onions, mustard, and ketchup. Top with the other half of the bun.
  • Plate your burgers and serve them hot, pairing with fries or a salad.

Equipment

  • Large skillet or grill
  • Spatula
  • Measuring spoons
  • Knife and cutting board

Notes

  • For added flavor, consider mixing in some garlic powder with the meat.
  • Feel free to experiment with different cheeses like pepper jack for a spicy kick!
  • These burgers can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a day.
