Ingredients

For the Steak:

  • 2 steaks Ribeye 1-inch thickness
  • ½ teaspoon Salt kosher salt preferred
  • ½ teaspoon Pepper freshly cracked black
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil high-quality extra virgin
  • 4 cloves Garlic smashed
  • 2 sprigs Thyme fresh
  • 2 sprigs Rosemary fresh

Instructions

Cooking Instructions:

  • 1. Prepare the Steaks: Take the ribeye steaks out of the refrigerator and let them rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Pat them dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • 2. Heat the Skillet: Place your cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Allow the oil to become hot but not smoking.
  • 3. Sear the Steaks: Once the skillet is hot, carefully place the steaks in the pan and sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving them.
  • 4. Flip and Add Flavor: Flip the steaks to the other side, add the unsalted butter, smashed garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Baste the steaks with melted butter and herbs for another 4-5 minutes.
  • 5. Check for Doneness: Aim for an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare using a meat thermometer.
  • 6. Rest and Serve: Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest for at least 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
