Ingredients

For the Dressing:

  • 1/3 cup sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup toasted sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup tamari or soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh grated ginger
  • 1-2 cloves garlic grated
  • 1 rounded tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

For the Salad:

  • 1 package wonton wrappers sliced into strips
  • 3 cups shredded cabbage
  • 3 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1-2 cups cooked shredded chicken
  • 1/3 cup slivered almonds or peanuts
  • 1 cup fresh orange slices
  • 2 avocados sliced
  • 1/3 cup chopped green onions
  • Chili oil for serving (optional)

Instructions

Instructions

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sesame oil, toasted sesame oil, honey, tamari or soy sauce, rice vinegar, fresh grated ginger, grated garlic, and orange zest. Whisk everything together until smooth and well-blended.
  • In a frying pan, heat a drizzle of avocado oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the sliced wonton wrappers and fry them until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Stir occasionally for even cooking, then remove from heat and set aside on a paper towel to drain.
  • In a large serving bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, shredded lettuce, cooked shredded chicken, and slivered almonds or peanuts. Gently toss them together to mix well.
  • Add the fresh orange slices and sliced avocados to the salad mixture. Toss gently to combine.
  • Drizzle the prepared dressing over the salad and toss gently until all ingredients are coated.
  • Sprinkle the fried wonton strips over the top along with the chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  • If desired, drizzle chili oil over the salad just before serving. Serve immediately and enjoy!
