Ingredients

  • 8 oz shrimp, shelled and deveined Fresh or frozen
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar Balances savory taste
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil Adds rich flavor
  • 3 dashes ground white pepper Provides subtle heat
  • 3 pieces white bread toast Denser and thicker
  • Oil For deep-frying
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds For coating
  • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds For added flavor

Instructions

  • In a food processor, combine the shrimp, salt, sugar, sesame oil, and ground white pepper. Pulse until finely chopped.
  • Toast the bread lightly until golden and let cool slightly.
  • Spread the shrimp mixture evenly on each piece of toasted bread.
  • Press the shrimp side of the toast into sesame seeds to coat.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan or deep fryer over medium-high heat.
  • Fry the toast shrimp-side down for 2-3 minutes until golden, then flip and fry for another 1-2 minutes.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
