Ingredients

  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 packet instant dry yeast (about 2 teaspoons or 1/4-ounce)
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the lukewarm water, granulated sugar, honey, and instant dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and salt.
  • Once your yeast mixture is frothy, add the vegetable oil and the flour mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  • On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  • Punch the dough down to release the air. Shape it into a loaf that fits your slow cooker. Grease the slow cooker insert lightly.
  • Place the shaped dough into the slow cooker. Cover it with a kitchen towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Cover the slow cooker with its lid, and set it to low. Cook for about 2-3 hours.
  • Once cooked, carefully remove the bread from the slow cooker and let it cool on a wire rack. Slice and enjoy your homemade Slow Cooker Bread warm or toasted!
