Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 8 slices Bread (rye or your favorite)
  • 8 ounces Smoked salmon (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup Gruyere cheese (grated)
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon zest
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh dill (chopped)
  • 4 tablespoons Butter (for grilling)

Instructions

Directions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the grated gruyere cheese, lemon zest, and chopped dill. Mix well until evenly distributed.
  • Take four slices of bread and spread a generous amount of the cheese mixture on each. Layer the smoked salmon on top, then place the remaining slices on top to create sandwiches.
  • Spread butter on the outside of each sandwich to ensure a golden-brown crust.
  • Preheat your skillet over medium heat and grill the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  • Remove from skillet, allow to cool slightly, slice in half, and serve immediately.

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet or griddle
  • Spatula
  • Cheese grater
  • Mixing Bowl

Notes

  • Experiment with different types of bread for added flavor.
  • Add avocado or tomatoes for extra creaminess and freshness.
  • Store leftovers wrapped tightly in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
